If there is one thing you want to know about me.... It's my favorite book is Tuesdays with Morrie. I found this book at a flee market I believe 2003? in a old box just tossed at the bottom... Over coming my cheapness I saved + bought it for $6.75. It's an easy read packed with a lot of great information of love, family, life, death. he understood the young and searching. helping one see the world as a more profound place, gave one sound advice to help one make your way through it. There needs to be more people like that. I'm not going to lie... and I'm sure you expected this from me but ahhh this book left me with tears streaming down my face. I actually read in two times in a row. Thats when you know a book is amazing I'll read it twice in a row... I don't do that much.
Please watch this it's 47 and 12 seconds of pure wisdom
Wise Words From Morrie:
"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things."
The best way to deal with that is to live in a fully conscious, compassionate, loving way. Don't wait until you're on your deathbed to recognize that this is the only way to live.
The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
We're involved in trillions of little acts just to keep going.
What tipped the scales was that psychology involved working with rats.
When you look at it that way, you can see how absurd it is that we individualize ourselves with our fences and hoarded possessions.
Because if you've found meaning in your life, you don't want to go back. You want to go forward.
“There are some mornings when I cry and cry and mourn for myself. Some mornings, I’m so angry and bitter. But it doesn’t last too long. Then I get up and say, ‘I want to live . . .’”
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE
“Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn’t. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.”“A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. And most of us live somewhere in the middle.” “A wrestling match. Yes you could describe life that way.” “Which side wins?” “Love wins. Love always wins.”
“The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn’t work, don’t buy it.”
“One day, I’m gonna show you it’s okay to cry.”
“Everyone knows they’re going to die, but nobody believes it. If we did, we would do things differently.”
“The truth is, once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.”
" without love we are birds with broken wings"
